As a scholar of empire, intimacy, and Asian and Asian diasporic life, my work is feminist, queer, antiracist, and decolonial in orientation, and informed by the knowledges and relationships that I have cultivated as a second-generation settler Canadian citizen of Chinese descent with genealogical ties to Britain, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
Between 2000 and 2020, I studied and worked in English departments across the United States and Canada, including Cornell University, the University of Nevada, Reno, and McMaster University. Currently, I teach at Simon Fraser University on unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ, and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm lands in Burnaby, British Columbia, where I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women Studies and direct the undergraduate program in Global Asia.
